INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF GHOSTS AND SPIRITS
29th - 2rd of May 2010 and 6th - 9th of May 2010
The International Festival of Ghosts and Phantoms is related to the Night Tour with Phantoms as a special product of the culture tourism in connection with Bojnice Castle. This programme is aimed to address both our own domestic visitors and foreign visitors within the framework of travel trade in the Upper-Nitra region.
This event, put on yearly, is concentrated on those events and tales of the history of Bojnice Castle hiding historical surprises and fearful motives borrowed from well known legends and tales within the framework of a partly unboundly adapted literary scenario.
Genghis Khan
The topic of the festival deals with a decisive event from the distant Middle Ages, when the the catastrophic defeat of the Ugrian Army near the Slaná opened the way to the Tatars to whole Europe. The Tatars plundered, robbed and killed as they marched forward. The king was forced to escape. Being on run the walls of Bojnice Castle will also have protected him. How did it fall out? Did the king survive? Did the Tatars withdraw along with the cruel Genghis Khan? Do you want to learn more? Come and have a look at Genghis Khan…

THE FAIRYTALE CASTLE
17th - 20st of June and 24th - 27th of June 2010
The Fairytale Castle arose as a reaction to visitors’ ideas connected with movie and television stories created in the interiors and exteriors of Bojnice Castle.
Pinocchio
This event joins fantastic predispositions of a romantic cultural monument with the magic of fairy tales. As an edifying and generous pastime for children and the youth it is intended to be a reward for their effort put during the school year. The main topic of the 14th year of the event Fairytale Castle includes beautiful stories about a wooden puppet called Pinocchio.
The visitors, guided by the Blue Fairy, go first to master Gepetto’s workroom, where they are witnesses of Pinocchio’s birth. A wooden block changes into a real boy. As boys have to attend school to learn everything needed, Pinocchio is also given a spelling book by Gepetto and he sets out for school accompanied by the visitors. But he finds the world around him so interesting and fascinating that he decides to set out for a journey instead, to get to know the world. There is a charming but dangerous way ahead. His safe return to Gepetto requires to be accompanied by the Blue Fairy and the children as well.
It is only up to the children, whether Pinocchio draws a lesson and starts going to the school instead of wanderings…

CELEBRATIONS OF LIFE art - relax - gastro - fest

If you like ghosts or fairytales at Bojnice castle you will also like “Life celebration“. This title hides a new event aimed at art, relaxation and gastronomic experience.
During three days, 27th to 29th August 2010, Bojnice castle area is going to be introduced as a place full of unrepeatable „genius loci“. By means of dancing, music, pantomime, poetry and also art visitors will meet old as well as recent eras. They will find out many interesting information about gastronomy, culinary, court decorum as well as the castle`s habitants good manners. Charming courtyards as well as the adjacent park will provide convinient environment for soul and also mind relax.
Important part of life celebration are also gastronomic experiences offered to the visitors in the castle`s moat.
The new event, “Life celebration“ , arises from specific character of National cultural monument- Bojnice castle and its history where activities of count John Palfi, the last noble owner, adorer and art expert, are dominating.
First year of special event aimed at art, relaxation and gastronomic experience.
The aim of this event is to make the last holiday days for Bojnice inhabitants as well as visitors more attractive and through all senses lead them to the world of art and relax.
